Gov. Paterson; Do The Right Thing

Black economic empowerment pioneer Eady remains in the wilderness
after BUFNY was destroyed by Eliot Spitzer; waiting to be restored by
Paterson....
Although I am still saddened and angered by the fact that Black
United Fund has not yet been returned to our people, and Kermit Eady
has not yet been compensated for his agony, I am trusting that you
may still live up to your word, given at that meeting, that you would
help in some way regarding these matters.

[Open Letter To The Editor]

Dear Governor Paterson,

Forgive me for not having congratulated you before now on your
meteoric rise to the post of chief executive of the State.

Our last meeting was in your office on 125th Street in 2004 when we
discussed the issue of The Black United Fund and what I then
asserted, and history has now borne out, was the corruption of, then,
Attorney General Eliot Spitzer. Although I am still saddened and
angered by the fact that Black United Fund has not yet been returned
to our people, and Kermit Eady has not yet been compensated for his
agony, I am trusting that you may still live up to your word, given
at that meeting, that you would help in some way regarding these matters.

The subject of my email today, however, is regarding yet another
emergent matter, the health of an individual prisoner named Bashir
Hameed at Comstock prison. It has been reported to me by his family
that he is currently having chest pains, shortness of breath and has
a fluid buildup in his legs, feet and abdomen. It has been reported
to me that he has not had a check up this year by the surgeon who
performed his open-heart surgery.

Mr. Hameed has had a history of chronic and severe renal and cardiac
problems. Based on these new reports, it is my medical opinion that
he needs to be transferred to the Albany Medical Center for
evaluation and treatment.

Mr. Hameed is a political prisoner and I believe that he is being
denied his treatment by prison officials because of his
uncompromising stance on the issue of freedom justice and equality
for the descendents of African Slaves in the US.

This is not the first communication that I have had with authorities
regarding the mistreatment of Mr. Hameed. However, my past
communications were made before you came into the position of power
you now hold. Please make your rise to that position meaningful to
our people by assisting both Mr. Hameed and Mr. Eady.

With all sincerity, I pray that God blesses you with the wisdom,
strength, courage and integrity to do what is right. If God does that
much, you need only have the will.

All the best to you in your new post. Please remember those in the
dungeon of the slave ship, for they can never forget you.

Your Brother,
James C. McIntosh, M.D.

Dear Friends & Comrades;
We received word from Dr. Courtnie York, Bashir Hameed's niece after her
recent visit. She is extremely concerned and asked our help in
getting Bashir removed from Comstock Prison to the Albany Medical Center.

She is concerned because he is having chest pains, shortness of breath and
has a fluid buildup in his stomach. Also his legs and feet are swollen. She
is very concerned because he has not had a check up this year by the doctor
who did his open heart surgery.

We suggest you call, fax and write:
Gov. David Paterson: Phone 518-474-8390; fax 518-474-1513
David A. Paterson, State Capitol, Albany, NY 12224
or you can e-mail him at http://161.11.121.121/govemail

Dr. Lester Wright: Phone 518-457-8126; fax 518-457-7252
Commissioner Brian Fischer: Phone 518-457-8134; fax 518-457-7252

You can write to both of them at:

NYS Dept. of Correctional Services
Building 2
1220 Washington Ave.
Albany, NY 12226-2050

There is an ongoing campaign to get Bashir the health care
he needs as well as a transfer out of Comstock, which has become
increasingly dangerous for Bashir's health. PLEASE take the time to call
for our brother and comrade.

You can also write to Bashir. We are sure he would appreciate it.

Bashir Hameed #82-A-6313,
Great Meadow Correctional Facility
Box 51, Comstock, NY 12821
