In a letter from former Black Panther and political prisoner, Anthony
Bottom (Jalil Muntaqim) dated October 4, 2006, he writes:
"Thanks for your excellent letter to the Division of Parole in my
behalf. It would be great if within the month you're able to get
10-20 other people to do the same thing. I remain confident that if
people support this initiative the possibility stills exists to win a
reversal of the parole denial. Again, Pataki will be out of office by
December, and a decision in my case should be made in December. If
the administrative appeal fails, I will have to file a petition in
the court, and I would like to state in the petition that hundreds of
letters was submitted to the Division of Parole protesting the parole denial."
So, if you haven't already, please write a letter in support of Jalil
and in protest of the Division of Parole's denial of his release from
prison. More information is available at
<http://www.freejalil.com/>www.freejalil.com.
Please write a letter to Chairman Robert Dennison, NYS Division of
Parole, 97 Central Avenue , Albany , New York 12206 , and demand that
a FULL BOARD REVIEW be conducted of Anthony "Jalil" Bottom's August
1, 2006 parole denial. We need as many letters as possible to be sent
protesting the parole denial and Governor Pataki's unwritten parole policy.

[Jalil Muntaqim is one of the founders of the Jericho Movement. He is
responsible for the National Prisoners' Campaign to Petition the
United Nations in 1976 which ultimately resulted in the U.N. finding
that there were political prisoners held by the United States. He
continues to be active with the New Afrikan Liberation Front and the
Jericho Movement. When he was arrested in 1971, Jalil, then known as
Anthony Bottom, was employed as a social worker for the California
State Employment Office. He was 19 and a veteran activist. As a high
school student he was involved in NAACP youth organizing and was a
leading member of the Black Student Union. Because of his ability to
articulate the issues that confronted Black students, Jalil often
toured San Jose, California, in what was called "speakout" with the
BSU Chairman of San Jose State and City College. After the
assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King, he joined the San Francisco
chapter of the Black Panther Party for Self-Defense, and later, as a
result of COINTELPRO, the Black Liberation Army. Jalil has a daughter
and a granddaughter. He states: "I came to prison an expectant father
and will leave prison a grandfather." Jalil has always struggled
against oppression and for a world where human beings can treat each
other with respect and love. For more information about Jalil, see:
