Not Enough Space: Art by Oscar López Rivera and Carlos Alberto Torres
An Exhibit Commemorating the 25th Anniversary of Their Imprisonment
Not Enough Space, an exhibit of artwork by two
inspiring Puerto Rican political prisoners,
Carlos Alberto Torres and Oscar López Rivera,
will be at the Mission Cultural Center for Latino
Arts from May 19 through June 16, includes
paintings, vibrant pieces of ceramic work and a
mock jail cell. The artists have endured 25
years of incarceration for their actions on
behalf of Puerto Rican independence.
OPENING RECEPTION: Friday, May 19th, 6:00
10:00 PM, $10.00- $25.00 sliding scale. Featuring
Jose Lopez, Director of the Puerto Rican Cultural
Center in Chicago and brother of Oscar López
Rivera, and the music of the John Santos Quintet
with Orestes Vilato, John Calloway, Saul Sierra,
Marco Diaz and John Santos. Curator Jorge Felix will also be present.
CLOSING CULTURAL EVENT: Sunday, June 11th, 4:00
PM, $10.00/$7.00 youth: Featuring music and
dance with Rico Pabón, Son Borikua, and Cacique y Kongo..
Gallery hours: Tuesday through Saturday 10:00 AM
to 5:00 PM. Wheelchair accessible. Admission $2.00
