We are celebrating the life of Herman Bell, Black Panther Party
activist and a US political prisoner for the past 35 years currently
incarcerated here in San Francisco's County Jail as on one of the SF 8
(www.FreetheSF8.org). Herman is the father and mentor of Ankh
Marketing & PST's Kamel Bell. Herman is presently incarcerated in SF
County Jail and is one of many victims of the FBI's COINTELPRO
(counter-intelligence program) arrests of US activists.
We welcome legendary NYC DJ and community organizer DJ REVOLUTION aka
LUMUMBA to the turntables this week. Lumumba is the co-founder of the
Black August concert series, as well as Revolution International Sound
System in Brooklyn, NYC. He is a respected DJ, community member and
university professor and created the hugely successful Brooklyn
Renaissance jumpoff. This is his PST debut and we are SUPER juiced to
have him here.
Additionally, we will be hosting the first-ever PST Teach-In,
moderated by the the leading expert on hip-hop and politics, our own
Davey D. The panel runs from 9-10pm and is FREE (come to the panel,
stay for free for PST!) Davey will be leading a panel discussion on
COINTELPRO, the history of activism in the Bay Area and police
brutality and repression -- and WHAT YOU CAN DO to help Free the SF 8
and win justice for Oscar Grant!!
**PROCEEDS FROM THE FUNDRAISER WILL GO TO THE CAMPAIGN TO FREE HERMAN
BELL AND TO THE FAMILY OF OSCAR GRANT, WHO WAS RECENTLY MURDERED IN
COLD BLOOD BY BART POLICE IN OAKLAND**
